In essence many people are very unwell by the time they get to the "last chance saloon." In your shoes at the time I would have been completely overwhelmed. Bad behaviour is always bad behaviour no matter why or who or what. And recovery is no guarantee bad behaviour stops, it is a personal journey. Like you I would go for principles which make my life work and let go others who don't find good recovery. We hopefully change to the good, some never! Don People in early recovery see everything.
